Abstract:
The  Paul  Scherrer  Institute  (PSI)  is  a  multi-disciplinary  research  centre  for  natural  sciences  and  technology  and  is  active  in  solid  state  physics,  materials  sciences,  elementary  particle  physics,  life  sciences,  nuclear  and  non-nuclear  energy  research,  and  energy-related  ecology.  The  school  of  radiation  protection  provides  education  and  training  not  only  for  the  1.200  PSI  staff  members  but  also  for  interested  staff  of  the  medical  sector,  fire  and  emergency  departments,  power  plants  and  industry.  More  than  3.000  participants  annually  attend  the  courses  of  the  school  of  radiation  protection  at  PSI.
Based  on  this  educational  experience  the  needs  and  requirements  of  radiation  protection  training  in  Switzerland  are  introduced.
